The actual growth $G_{a c t, t x y s}$ [kg ha⁻¹] is derived from the community potential growth $G_{p o t, t x y}$ [kg ha⁻¹] and the multiplicative effect of five growth adjustment factors:

G_{a c t, t x y s} = G_{p o t, t x y} \cdot L I G_{t x y s} \cdot N U T_{t x y s} \cdot W A T_{t x y s} \cdot R O O T_{t x y s} \cdot E N V_{t x y}

where $L I G_{t x y s}$ [-] is the species-specific competition for light, $N U T_{t x y s}$ [-] is the species-specific competition for nutrients, $W A T_{t x y s}$ [-] is the species-specific competition for soil water, $R O O T_{t x y s}$ [-] is the species-specific cost for maintaining roots and mycorrhiza, and $E N V_{t x y}$ [-] is the non-species specific adjustment based on environmental and seasonal factors.
